Home Insulation Company was founded by John Noel (1st Generation) in 1938. At that time, many homes were still being constructed without insulation or makeshift insulation materials like newspaper and even horse-hair. John saw an opportunity to make homes much more comfortable and energy efficient. John quickly became known for his insulation knowledge and became a regional resource for other insulation contractors and manufacturers. He invested in new trucks and equipment to install new, more efficient products as they came to the market. He later added window, door, siding, and roofing installation to the company's product offerings.

John's son, Kevin Noel (2nd Generation), took over in 1985 and began building the business into one of the area's leading installers of insulation and commercial roofing. Kevin became very involved in the building-science world and brought Home Insulation Company into the "green era" of insulation products and building science. He questioned past insulation techniques and learned where those products failed. He invested heavily in new systems such as "wall-spray cellulose," and he understood the importance of air-sealing homes. He became a local resource for insulating passive and net-zero homes while understanding a whole-home approach to building comfortable, healthy, and efficient homes.

Kevin's son, Bennett Noel (3rd Generation), took over in 2023 after spending 20 years learning from Kevin and John. He has since invested in new equipment and trucks to continue offering high-performance insulation and roofing systems throughout Wisconsin. Bennett intends on leading Home Insulation Company through the rare 100-year family-owned business threshold.
